WorldQuestX ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile app and website. By using WorldQuestX, you agree to the terms of this policy.

1. Information We Collect

  • •We collect information you provide directly when you register an account, including your email address, username, display name, and optional profile photo.
  • •We collect location data (GPS coordinates) when you actively use the app to check in to locations. Location access is only requested when the app is in use.
  • •We collect gameplay data including locations discovered, visit counts, points earned, and achievements.
  • •We collect device and usage data such as app version, operating system, and general usage patterns to improve the service.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • •To provide and operate the WorldQuestX service, including check-ins, leaderboards, and challenges.
  • •To verify your proximity to locations during check-ins using your GPS coordinates.
  • •To personalise your experience, including showing relevant leaderboards and local location stats.
  • •To send you service-related emails such as account verification, password resets, and important updates.
  • •To process payments for Premium subscriptions via Stripe. We do not store your payment card details — these are handled securely by Stripe.
  • •To improve the app through aggregated, anonymised analytics.

3. Information Sharing

  • •Your username and publicly visible stats (total discoveries, points, mastery count) are shown on leaderboards and to friends you connect with.
  • •Your location data is used solely to verify check-ins. We do not sell, rent, or share your precise GPS coordinates with third parties.
  • •We use Stripe for payment processing. Stripe may collect and process your payment information according to their own privacy policy.
  • •We do not sell your personal data to advertisers or data brokers.
  • •We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal requests.

4. Data Storage and Security

  • •Your data is stored on secure servers provided by Base44 (our infrastructure provider). Data is stored in the European Union.
  • •We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit.
  • •Access to personal data is restricted to authorised personnel only.
  • •While we take reasonable precautions, no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of your data.

5. Your Rights

  • •You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you.
  • •You have the right to request correction of inaccurate data.
  • •You have the right to request deletion of your account and personal data at any time. You can do this directly from the app via Settings → Delete Account.
  • •You have the right to withdraw consent for optional features (such as contact visibility) at any time via your profile settings.
  • •If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

6. Location Data

  • •WorldQuestX requires access to your device GPS in order to verify that you are within 50 metres of a location before allowing a check-in.
  • •Location access is requested at the time of use and is not tracked in the background.
  • •Precise GPS coordinates used during check-ins are not permanently stored. Only the fact that a check-in occurred at a given location is recorded.
  • •You can revoke location permissions at any time through your device settings, though this will prevent check-in functionality.

7. Cookies and Tracking

  • •We use session tokens (stored in local storage) to keep you logged in. These are essential to the service.
  • •We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking technologies.
  • •Our web application may use basic analytics to understand usage patterns. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.

8. Children's Privacy

  • •WorldQuestX is not directed at children under the age of 13.
  • •We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. Third-Party Services

  • •Stripe — for payment processing. See stripe.com/privacy.
  • •Base44 — our platform infrastructure provider. Your data is hosted on their servers.
  • •Unsplash — for location and UI imagery. No personal data is shared with Unsplash.
  • •These third parties have their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.

10. Changes to This Policy

  • •We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
  • •Continued use of WorldQuestX after changes are made constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
